Laminaran

Laminaran (or laminarin) is a storage polysaccharide of Laminaria sp and other brown algae such as Ascophyllum nososum.  It is a linear polysaccharide made up of β-(1-3)-glucan with some
β-(1-6)-linkages.

Potential activities:

Laminaran is claimed modulates immune response in mammals. Sulfated laminaran has been shown to have heparin-like properties and to be an elicitor of plant defense reactions against viral infections. Laminaran also has dietary fiber properties.
